Boherboy Road Residential Scheme

HW Planning were lead planning consultants on this application for over 150 social housing units in the North-Eastern suburbs of Cork City on Council owned land.

As the lands were located just outside the City boundary, the application was made to neighbouring Cork County Council. Among the key factors to be considered in this scheme were traffic impacts, existing and future residential amenity, urban design, connectivity and housing mix. Working in partnership with project architects O’Mahony Pike, the proposal sought an increased density of development when compared to nearby existing residential developments, in accordance with emerging national policy in relation to the efficient and sustainable use of urban land and the Rebuilding Ireland Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness. Following a grant of permission by Cork County Council, a third-party appeal was lodged by local residents. The permission was subsequently upheld by An Bord Pleanála. HW Planning were also successful in relation to a first-party appeal against onerous conditions.

The official launch of the housing scheme took place in November 2019.
