Whiskey maturation presents complex land use planning issues, which require careful consideration and site selection. While distilleries are low impact, low intensity industrial development, even a modest scale facility can be classified as a Seveso site, and are often more suitable to rural areas.
HW Planning assisted Vault Storage Limited with site selection, coordinated the Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) and planning application for a maturation warehouse facility of 12 warehouses with a floor area of over 22,000 m2 on a 16 hectare site in Moyvore, Co. Westmeath.
The application and EIAR required the coordination of a large multi-disciplinary team and the development of solutions to planning policy, environmental and visual impact issues.
