Semple Stadium

Semple Stadium is one of the most iconic sporting arenas in Ireland and is central to Irish sporting and cultural life.  A stadium was first constructed on the site in 1910 following on from the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) itself in Thurles in 1884.

Working with Wilson Architecture, HW Planning coordinated a planning application for the multi-million euro redevelopment of the stadium’s Kinane Stand comprising a new tier to include new player and media facilities, hospitality, function and museum space. The project included detailed consideration of technical, structural and operational planning design requirements, including improved venue access/circulation, protection of local amenities, landscaping and public realm improvements. The permitted works will safeguard Semple Stadium as a national asset into the future while modernising facilities consistent with the present-day operational requirements.
