On 28th October 2020, An Bord Pleanála granted permission through the SHD process for the redevelopment of the former Munster Furniture site, comprising of the construction of a 279 no. bed space student apartment development, including 2 no. retail units, and coffee shop/restaurant on North Main Street, Cork City (ABP-307605-20). The Board subsequently granted permission for alterations to the permitted scheme in accordance with Section 146B of the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended (ABP-309858-21). It is envisaged that significant progress will be made in the construction phase of the project in 2022.
The delivery of this project will see the redevelopment of a significant brownfield site within the ‘Heart of the City’, adding to the diverse range of uses currently seen on North Main Street.
